Minliwa Kingdom - the land from which the main character, Yumi Ai Li, hails from. Minliwa is a kingdom of order and discipline, where magic is considered an uncouth and lowly activity. Minliwa is a very modern society, one that cares for art and culture, but they care for their rigid culture so much that individuality is lost in the midst. Beyond that, individuality is often looked down upon, and those who fit in are considered highest in society. Despite the fact that there is no sun, Minliwa does just fine: the kingdom is surrounded by a mysterious dome that provides them with plenty of light.
The Land of Thieves - the home of Tienna, the Moonlight Dancer and greatest thief in the realm. The Land of Thieves is one of honor and magic, but also one of perpetual night. The thieves have a strict code: they only fight willing participants, they cannot steal from someone more poor than them, and they are obligated to care for those below them. The thieves also worship magic and the Elebeasts, purveyors of magic. They worship nature and the animals from which magic comes, and model their own cities and lifestyles off the environments they live in.
The Untouched: before the Land of Thieves and Minliwa had names, they were a single people. But the people disagreed on what they truly stood for - order or individuality - and a civil war began that became a split between the citizens. The land they warred on was ravaged and destroyed, and so the two sides split, each to one side of the ruined land, and agreed to not touch it, so nature could regrow and florish. Now, a century later, The Untouched has finally returned to its former glory.
